Speed-Controlled Volume Module |
After hearing many S2000 owners ask for this product I finally found the
time to make it - Automatic Volume Control for the stock radio. This product automatically adjusts the volume of the stock radio (based on speed) to compensate for increasing background noise as you drive faster. This allows the radio to be more easily heard as you speed up and slow down without having to constantly adjust the volume manually. Features - Extremely easy programming allows you to set the speed at which each volume adjustment will be made. Your speeds are stored in one of two distinct memory locations that I call "SCV Levels". Having two settings allows you to switch between a 'top-up' setting and a more aggressive 'top-down' mode simply by pressing MODE & CH at the same time. The SCV levels can be re-programmed at any time by repeating the programming sequence.
Note - The SCV module comes pre-programmed with "average" settings so you can use it immediately after installation, then tweak it to your own tastes at any time. Installation Overview - Remove the factory head unit, attach 3 T-taps (using regular pliers) to the wire harness, then run one wire to behind the passenger dash to connect to the speed signal at the convertible top module. Time to install: 30-60 minutes, depending on skill level. Details - This product operates similar to the Speed-Controlled-Volume function of our DCI module but it ONLY does auto-volume, nothing else. But unlike the DCI where you choose from a list of pre-set adjustment levels, this new design allows you to program each volume change to your personal preference - and it couldn't be easier to program! You enter "Program Mode" by holding the MODE button for more than 3 seconds when the car is stopped. Then manually (on the HU) set the source and volume to your typical listening level. Now start driving and when there's enough background noise that you would normally kick the volume up one notch, do it using the dash controls. The volume will go up and the module will remember that speed. Drive faster and make another volume adjustment; the module remembers that too. Keep speeding up and adjusting the volume until you reach Interstate speeds and then press MODE again to store the settings. The module will now use the speeds you just set for adjusting the volume. If you decide you want to change them you can over-write the settings any time you want by going through the program procedure again. There are 2 SCV levels (high and low) and most owners use one for top-up driving and the other for top-down. You swap between SCV levels by holding the MODE button and hitting CH. To program the second SCV setting just do MODE + CH to swap SCV levels and repeat the program process. This time the module will remember your "volume up speeds" as the alternate SCV level. Cool.
